Merrivale Primary School was established in 1924. It is situated in the south west area within the City of Warrnambool. The school is organised into 9 classrooms, an art room, library and multipurpose area. Specialist programs are provided in art, music, library, and LOTE. The school employs a primary welfare officer, reading recovery teacher and an oral language coordinator. The school has achieved outstanding results in its student, parent and staff opinion surveys. This is also reflected in the academic achievements of its students.

The school has an excellent reputation. This is directly contributed to the professional commitment of all the staff, the support of its parent community and the attention the school gives to the development of the whole student in the programs and activities the school provides.

The school has adopted the “Tribes” process in the development of a positive school culture, the “Discovery Experience” approach to physical activity and uses the “Restorative” approach to student health and wellbeing.
